Description:

Castrol Optigear Synthetic™ 800 gear oils (formerly known as Tribol™ 800) have been developed for the lubrication of heavily loaded gears, bushings, and bearings operating across a wide temperature range, from ambient to elevated temperatures (> 80 °C/176 °F). They are specifically designed to extend lubricant life and machine components where unusually high operating and sump temperatures occur. The high-performance characteristics of Optigear Synthetic 800 are achieved with selected polyalkylene glycol (PAG)-based synthetic fluids. They exhibit chemical and thermal stability, high viscosity index, water solubility, and compatibility with the most commonly used metals and elastomers in machine construction. The naturally high oxidation resistance of the synthetic base fluid is further enhanced with inhibitors. Corrosion protection is highly effective, even in the presence of water. Additionally, a high-performance additive package works in combination to deliver superior anti-wear and extreme pressure (EP) performance.

Application:

The Optigear Synthetic 800 range is particularly suitable for sumps and circulating systems operating at high temperatures due to heat generated in severe service or high-temperature applications. Optigear Synthetic 800 is designed for all types of heavily loaded gears, including spur, bevel, and worm gears. While highly suitable for all types of gears and bearings, the Optigear Synthetic 800 range is particularly effective in controlling wear and reducing friction between sliding surfaces. Additionally, it has a high affinity for copper-based metal alloys.
